Mossela NW League, round 3 :)

Interesting poll, as I write this there's about 45 minutes left to play and the cut has it by over 50% so it looks like Sam's friends and family have been voting all week :) I haven't heard anything on the bank today so I suppose we'll have to wait and see what the powers that be decide.
I don't have the full result of today's match just yet but I'm sure Tabbers will email it during the week so I'll do my best to post it up when it arrives.
Our Standish Black lads had another good match though coming joint second so they are still top of the league going in to next weeks' final match of this well organised mini series.
I have to admit I haven't really got to grips with this bloodworm thingy yet and although it's not rocket science there are certain things you have to get right to keep them fishes coming. I drew next to Spark bridge today on the Solom side and I had a busy day catching little fish pretty much all day, a few on the butty but the majority on the little red men. I weighed just over 2 lb but I was way down in the section. I guess it's also down to what's in front of you, the stamp of my fish was titchy and I just couldn't find better stamp whatever I did. Even on 5, 6 or even 7 ml punch I was still catchin' tiny fish. I reckon I had as many if not more fish than most in the section, it's just that they were really small. The Rochdale lad on my right had a similar net to me and weighed 2-2-2 so maybe there just weren't any bigger fish there today.
I did try the old chop down the track 'cos there are some decent billies on the Rufford arm but I could only muster a couple of small ones. White-van-Mick Charnley a couple of pegs up had a couple of good 'uns in his weight of 2-10-0. One lad in the Warrior's section fished top 3 all day with chop and weighed over 5 lb of mainly billies. Work that one out.
My section was won the other side of Spark bridge with a good 5 lb plus which included some good skimmers, and he only fished bread!
So I have to say that it really has fished very well throughout and you need a good 3 or 4 lb in every section for good points which can't be bad.

And, it's lifting with pike! Only little jackies in the main but it's stuffed with 'em. Me and the Warrior were chattin' on the way home about maybe going down there sometime on the Wigan DAA length and cloddin' a spinner around, I bet you'd have some great sport.
So next week is the last round, it's gone quick, after that I'm not sure what's going on. There's a Wigan teams-of-4 event starting early February but I doubt I'll bother with that. If anybody knows of 'owt let us know on t'blog. Seems like the gremlins have gone now and you can put comments up again. Wonder if Banksy's runnin' 'owt?
Have a good week, let us know if you've bin catchin', 'till next time .... tight lines :)

Good evening all
Your Rivi /Zark and one of Sams family correspondent checking in.
Well it was Jumbles today and for those that dont know its just on the boundary between Bolton and Blackburn and similar to Haigh Hall Country Park in its size but as a massive lake in the middle of it .The match was split in 2 today one section in the main lake and another in the channel. Only 15 anglers turned out but it was good tip fishing especially for the lads that drew in the small channel around 50 meters wide. I drew peg 5 in the channel but ended up fishing peg 4 as the peggger out had put peg 5 right under a massive tree not recommended for tip tishing. The bloke on 3 was at the side of the walkover bridge and the first thing he set up was a 4 meter whip(thought it was all out tip I said to myself). At the all in I threw a small feeder about 40 yards into about 16feet of water and soon as it hit bottom it flew round and I was into a double header of two tiny roach about 3/4 ounce apiece and that seemed to be the pattern for the rest of the match. I had 45 roach for 3 and half pound. Well I say 3 and a half pound I slipped on the steep bank as I was pouring my fish into the net and missed the wieghers net(first time for everything) thank god you needed 4 pound to win my section. I definately did not have 4 pound but certainly over 3. Remember him on peg 3 with the whip yes you guessed it second in the match with a big 5 pound (someone should ban them pole thingies). 7 pound won the match from peg 7 in the channel all roach no one in the channel had a skimmer. The pegs in the main lake all caught mainly small skimmmers the best weight being "Daddy Lambert" with 4 pound of them. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable's days fishing and "no rain". So back there next week for another chuck hopefully I will not miss the weigh sling.
Keep posting
Keep smiling
Stop banding

commercials are making a late surge and we've got a river man now! Must admit, ask me for my fav venue several years back and it would defo have bin the Weaver, I really enjoyed my trip to the Ribble last winter with me old mate Spenny, would love to do that again sometime soon.
Keep your chin up Damar, we all go through bad spells, well, apart from the odd superstar that is. I'll give you a bell, there's summat on the horizon for Feb which could be right up your street matey, you don't become a bad angler overnight and in winter the drawbag is even more important :)
